Catalan club Barcelona's new sponsor Spotify is set to begin work with the club on June 24.Barcelona have announced that they will be replacing the Rakuten logo with a Spotify from next week. Spotify is expected to work with Barcelona for the next 12 years. Spotify will replace the Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten as Barca's front-of-shirt sponsor for the club's men's and women's squads under the comprehensive arrangement. For the following three seasons, the Swedish business will also sponsor Barca's practice jerseys. The renowned Camp Nou stadium of Barcelona will also be renamed Spotify Camp Nou for the first time in the LaLiga team's history. After Barca members approved the initiative in December, the facility will soon undergo renovations at an estimated cost of US$1.7 billion.The agreement, which has been endorsed and signed by the Barca board of directors, must still be ratified by the extraordinary delegate members assembly on April 3. The partnership's financial terms have not been made public, but Catalan radio station RAC1 stated the agreement would be worth €280 million (US$308 million), or about €70 million (US$77 million) every season. Last month, the station said a deal was close.Spotify has been designated as Barca's official audio streaming partner in addition to acquiring branding for the team's uniforms and stadium. By offering athletes and artists at the Nou Camp a global stage, the two will collaborate to meld the music and soccer worlds. Additionally, Barca and Spotify intend to develop new channels for players and artists to interact with fans globally.
