Liverpool stadium in 2023/2024

Merseyside club Liverpool are undergoing a series of renovations at Anfield.

Liverpool has given the go-ahead to start building their $60,000 Anfield Road stand addition.

An official ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for the next week to kick off the reconstruction, which will raise Anfield's capacity by 7,000 to more than 61,000.

Planning clearance for the Reds was approved in June, and enabling work had been done under the stand all summer long.

Construction may now start, with Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd (Buckingham) serving as the main contractor. Liverpool hopes to have the project finished in time for the 2023–24 season.

Similar to how the Main Stand was renovated, work on the Anfield Road stand will proceed throughout the season as games are still being played. A new top tier will be constructed over the existing tier, which will be preserved and renovated. "We have been clear from the beginning that in order for this development to proceed, we needed the cooperation of local people and the community, to successfully traverse the difficult planning landscape and to ensure the project is financially feasible," said Liverpool managing director Andy Hughes.

Liverpool are reportedly making improvements to increase the number of stadium seats, including the lawn.

When Anfield completes the renovation, it will have an additional 7,000 spectators and will increase the stadium's capacity to 61,015
